We have made numerous trips with Justin and Hemispheres Unlimited over the years, and they have all been great. Our first trip to Christmas Island Lodge we had an amazing time, and the result was that we went back for a second time less than a year later.
The island is surrounded by crystal clear water and white sand beaches.
Fishing the flats finds you in water 2 feet deep with white sand bottom so the fish are easy to spot. In addition to the flats you will fish the inner lagoon, Korean Wreck, Huff Dam as well as fishing the surf.
In your 6 days, you get an opportunity to meet and have a different guide each day. All of them excel in spotting and getting you on fish. Otea (Head Guide), Carlos, Rotas, David, Taco, Tenny… all of them are a joy to be with and also helpful in fly selection and casting tips. In the hours spent with them you will find out about life on the island and its history.
The lodge day to day operations while we were there were handled by Dorothy (Dot) and her team who do an excellent job with food and beverage and cleanliness of rooms, as well as providing laundry services. They are so friendly and always have a welcoming smile!
We had such a great time that we invited our son and another couple to join us when we returned in November. Highly recommend this program to all.
